Introduction
Gandhibhavan had started its activities in the year 2002. But this was solely to learn and propagate the visions and principles of Gandhian thoughts based on the fundamental principles of love and peace.
But later, while in a journey founder of Gandhibhavan, Punalur Somarajan met with a destitute, an 85 year old unmarried lady, on his way.
As a person, who lost his mother in his childhood itself was finding solace in other mothers, asked this old aged, whether she is willing to go with him, so that he could shelter and protect her. She readily agreed and went along with Punalur Somarajan, and was the first Inmate of Gandhibhavan.
Accordingly on 06-06-2003 Gandhibhavan started its Old Age Home in a small rented building by accepting Aged Parukuttiamma as its first inmate. Gradually this type of isolated Senior Citizens numbers got increased and was sheltered in different rented homes in different parts of Pathanapuram. But now in the main center, there are more than 1000 members and more than 500 are senior citizens. Now we have about 5 acres of land in our possession in Pathanapuram itself.
The home is providing care and support, medical treatment, food, medicine, cloth, yoga, meditation, vocational trainings and therapies including music therapy to more than 1000 members.
